TITLE: cradle and trap
DIRECTOR: Lyric Lundquist
SYNOPSIS: I named this video after a quote from one of my favorite books by Chuck Palahniuk - Invisible Monsters.

"The world," Brandy says, "Is your cradle and your trap. And if you can find any way out of our culture, then that's a trap too. Just wanting to get out of the trap reinforces the trap."
The surface level story is about a girl trapped in a black and white world, but when she films, she sees a world of color with a darker, more lustrous version of herself. It tempts her to cross over and leave her colorless world behind. In the end though, I try to show that perhaps the key is not trying to find a way 'out of the trap,' by choosing one world over the other. Both worlds have their dangers, and by struggling, it only reinforces that the bonds that hold me down are real.

TITLE: Lights on_ (machinima)
DIRECTOR: Carla Broek
SYNOPSIS: "Creativeness is about having a feeling and expressing it, knowing that the feeling is already void by the time it's expressed.
Enjoy what you feel."

This movie has been created natively in Second Life, using Windlight settings to smooth out backgrounds. The single goal was to obtain the full effect of incredible art made by real artists in SL. Post-processing was minimalistic, using smooth color transitions and adding one line and one dot, only used to unify the visual part and music into a single viewing experience.

TITEL: Prometheus - the machinima
DIRECTOR: Luca Lisci
SYNOPSIS: It's a vision inspired by the ancient greek myth of Prometheus meshed with characters looking after egyptian ancient gods and ultra-contemporary ideas from lowbrow art movement. I guess the primeval indian definition of Avatars as 'gods' embodiement on earth' sounds good enought to make Prometheus (that stole fire to zeus, fathers of all gods) an archetypal character for virtual worlds. This is a project made to be projected to large screens, for live audience.

TITLE: ORIENTATION
DIRECTOR: Chantal Harvey
SYNOPSIS: This machinima was filmed in Second Life by Chantal Harvey, location was Virtual Holland.
ORIENTATION is primarily about conformity, corporate control and blind consumerism.
A group of avatars were invited to this virtual installation in Second Life, and became part of the performance as they were directed through it. They had to put on a Bunnykin avatar, and go from room to room after standing in line - not knowing what would come.
